The key themes of climate initiatives relates to my research question is through providing free transportation for the citizens. Providing free bicycles and free metro rides allows the people of Medellin the be more inclined to use them, especially when it comes to the bikes not only is it better for the environment it is also good for the health of their people. The majority of the shops and essentials are all walking distance in Medellin so walking is also a great alternative. Having the car lottery when they pick which cars ending in even or odd numbers get to drive on a given day also helps with the pollution. It is also a fair and creative way to determine who gets to use their car and if they aren’t able to use their cars they have these alternatives.

Since Medellin does have an app to analyze and track their pollution rates I feel like more needs to be done in order to inform the citizens of the pollution problem. There should be some sort of incentive program when a community does something to combat pollution. I feel like the people that do not understand why they do the car lottery are the people that are not as informed. I believe that there needs to be more research on what else besides transportation needs to be done to combat pollution.
